I made this is in a mid-weight cotton to trial the pattern and this top is now one of my favorites. It is rather roomy but I solved that by making a tie belt and it looks great – happy now.
My next one, which I am about to cut out of linen I am making a size smaller, to reduce the bulk under the armpit. Also as mention in the comment (January 24, 2019) I will only fuse one side of the collar stand and collar on this one and future when using mid weight and heavier fabrics.
Then onto my third I will be lengthening the tunic to make a knee length dress with a tie belt, I think this will make a very stylish dress to throw on and go anywhere – this one will be the same size as my first, with the belt it needs that extra volume.
    Love it.
    Thanks.

love this pattern, would give it a 5 but the collar nearly got the better of me. watched the video, and worked from that but it still took me about 5hrs just to do the collar. But next time will be quicker.

I made my 1st tunic in a viscose print, and whilst its really nice, and will go with jeggings, or jeans, or leggings and boots in the winter, next time I will make it in a plain fabric, i think you loose the impact of the collar if there is too much print on the fabric. one tip, size down, or double check your measurements. its very roomy. will definatley be making again.

Style arc if you are going to continue to give short instructions, we need a sew along with every new pattern release. I think i would buy every pattern you ever put out then xx

I really like this pattern. I made it in size 14 and it fits me exactly how a RTW size 14 fits. I’ve been sewing for about 60 years, and thought I knew it all. I watched the Melody tutorial and found out I don’t know it all. I learned tips and tricks that I can apply to other patterns, so I recommend you watch any tutorial offered by Style Arc. I made this pattern in a fairly lightweight chambray. In hindsight, I would not line both pieces of the collar and the collar stand. The end result is just a bit too firm for the body of the top. In my next iteration I will only line one piece of the collar and the collar stand. Bottom line, this pattern goes together beautifully. Love Style Arc. 💕

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
