CONSTRUCTION:
With right sides together sew the front body & back body shoulder seams together. We recommend sewing cotton tape or fusing the shoulder seams to stop any stretching. If sewing on a sewing machine, overlock/serge the seams and press to the back.
With right sides facing sew the short ends of the neckband together. Fold in half lengthways with wrong sides together. Pin the raw edges of the neckband to the neckline of the body. Once in place sew the neckband to the neck. If sewing on a sewing machine, overlock/serge the seam and press downwards.
Overlock/serge the top edge of the pocket, turn to the inside at the notch and stitch down. Press the seam allowance of the curved base of the pocket to the inside, ready to attach to the side panel.
Pin the pocket to the side panels, where marked on the pattern. Once in place sew the base and the sides of the pockets onto the side panels.
With right sides together sew the under sleeve seams together. If sewing on a sewing machine, overlock/serge the seams and press to the back.
Join the side panel to the seam of the square sleeve base following the notches, matching ‘A’ to ‘A’. If sewing on a sewing machine, overlock/serge the seams and press upwards.
Starting at the hemline sew the back body to the side panel/sleeve, continue sewing up and over the shoulder, joining the front body to the side panel/sleeve and continue down to the front hemline. If sewing on a sewing machine, overlock/serge the seams and press the front to centre front and back to centre back.
Overlock/serge the hem of the body, turn to the inside at the hem notch and stitch in place.
Overlock/serge the hem of the sleeves, turn to the inside at the sleeve hem notch and stitch in place.
Press your new top!
