CONSTRUCTION
OPTIONAL INSEAM POCKETS:

With RST and notches aligned, sew one set of Pockets (5) to the side front Skirt (2) at the side seam (pocket opening marked ‘A’ on the pattern). Clip the seam at the notches and sew an understitch on the side of the pocket bag. This is pocket bag 1.
With RST, lay pocket bag 2 on top of pocket bag 1, align and sew both pocket bags together. Note that the straight edge of the under pocket is left free to sew to the back skirt or leg side seam. Neaten around the pockets using an overlocker/serger. Secure stitch each end of the pocket opening.
SKIRT:
With RST pin the two shorter side seams of the Front (2) and Back (2) skirt together, followed by pinning the two longer side seams of the front and back skirt together. Once in place stitch the side seams together, taking care to not catch the front pocket opening as you sew (if using). Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
With RST sew the longer side seams of the Middle Skirt Flounce (3) pieces together, followed by sewing shorter side seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
Neaten the hem of the middle flounce with an overlocker/serger and turn to the inside once, press and sew with a 6mm (¼”) topstitch. Take it slowly to avoid roping the curved hem.
With RST sew the longer side seams of the Bottom Skirt Flounce (4) together, followed by sewing the shorter side seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
Neaten the hem of the bottom flounce with an overlocker/serger and turn to the inside once and stitch with a 6mm (¼”) topstitch.
With right sides on the outer lay the middle flounce over the bottom flounce and align the notches. Stay stitch the two cut edges together to hold in place.
With RST and notches aligned, pin the skirt to the two lower flounces, once in place sew together. You will need to ease the flounce slightly. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press upward.
With RST sew the two short ends of the waistband together and press the seam open.
Cut the elastic to your preferred personal length (or see measurement chart). Overlap the cut ends and securely stitch together, creating a loop.
Sandwich the elastic inside the waistband, pin and sew a stay stitch around the two cut edges of the waistband. Even the elastic out by pulling taut and releasing, then sew a vertical stitch through the waistband and elastic at the centre back, side seams and centre front to stop the elastic from rolling.
With RST and notches aligned, sew the waistband to the waist of the skirt. You may choose to use a zipper foot to sew close to the elastic. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press downward.
Press your new skirt.
