I was happy to find this pattern because I had only 2 yards of very expensive fabric and wanted to make a skirt from it. Finally, this balloon skirt was the answer. I had to shorten it from the maxi length, so I ended up with a skirt that is somewhat below the knee with still enough ballooning for the effect I wanted.
However, I must say, StyleArc needs to put more effort into their instructions and illustrations on your patterns. If it weren’t for the accompanying video, my skirt would NOT have come together. The instructions do NOT state to interface the waistband (but the video does), and the whole construction of the waistband is unnecessarily difficult. I had to abandon the whole effort (sewing the elastic directly to the fabric) because it was difficult to control and was destroying my slippery satin fabric. You don’t ever offer the alternative of simply building an elastic channel, the old-fashioned way, and running the elastic through. I had to figure this out for myself.
The same criticism of the skirt lining and figuring out how to do the turnout without twisting the whole lot – without the video, the instructions are truly useless. I’ve only used one other SA pattern and swore off of them, but thought this one should be simple enough that I could follow it. Truly, these patterns are expensive enough that you should step up this part of your game.

StyleArc has taken harem pants to a new level. The bands in the front of the waist and legs add a nice finish and the pleats provide fullness without the bulk of gathering. I made my first pair of pants in linen and plan more.

My daughter made these for a project in her fashion class at school, and she really likes them. Very soft and drapey.
I find sizing a challenge though. We followed the sizing guidelines, but we should have gone a size or two smaller.
She’s happy with them, though, which is what counts.

Really pleased that I have finally made a bubble skirt. My skirt is quite sculptural due to the fabric I used. The fabric was a cotton poplin that had a lot of body and I used it for the lining as well. This made the skirt bottom poof out and I love the result. It was an easy sew and I recommend watching the video tutorial before you make it.
Great pattern. A fun skirt.
