CONSTRUCTION:
Lay the tie pattern on the fabric following the grain line marked on the pattern piece. It is important that a tie is cut on the true bias (45-degree angle). Pin and cut.
Optional- Apply the Tie fusing (3) to the Front tie (1), and the Extension fusing (4) to the Tie extension (2).
With RST and notches aligned, sew the front tie piece to the tie extension piece.
With RST, sew the Front Facing (5) to the large end of the tie.
With RST, sew the Extension Facing (6) to the small end of the tie.
Clip the corners, turn both ends out to the right side and press.
With RST and notches aligned, fold the tie in half lengthways and sew.
Turn the tie to the right side. Keeping the seam in the centre of the under tie, carefully pin the tie into place.
Press the tie, removing the pins as you go. Take care to not stretch the tie – this is easy to do as it is cut on the bias.
