Stay stitch or fuse the front and back necklines to prevent them from stretching.

Neaten each centre back bodice seam with an overlocker/serger. Sew the invisible zip into the centre back seam (see Invisible Zip tutorial on stylearc.com). With right sides facing sew the lower centre back seams together finishing at the base of the zip. Press the seam open.

Neaten each centre back skirt seam with an overlocker/serger. With right sides facing sew the centre back skirt seams together from the hip seam down to the top of the split opening.

With right sides facing sew the centre front seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the wearers left.

Neaten the hemline with an overlocker/serger.

With right sides facing sew the front and back under sleeve seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

With right sides facing sew the front bodice sleeve seam to the front body. Sew from the shoulder line down and around the hip line joining the back bodice to the skirt, continue sewing finishing back at the opposite shoulder. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press outwards.

With right sides facing sew the front and back shoulder seams together. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

Neaten one long edge of the binding with an overlocker/serger. With right sides facing sew the raw edge of the neck binding to the neckline, turn the short edges of the bind inward.

Press the binding over to the inside of the neckline and pin the overlocked/serged edge of the binding in place, taking care not to twist/rope the binding. Once in place sew the binding to the neckline with a sink stitch (stitch in the ditch).

With right sides facing stitch across the hem of the split turnback. Turn out to the right side and press the split turnback to the inside. Topstitch across the top and down the outer edge of the turnback. When arriving at the hem, with the needle down, turn the corner and sew around the hem finishing back at the opposite side at the top of the split seam. If you prefer the split and hem can be hand stitched.

Neaten the hem of the sleeve opening with an overlocker/serger, turn in and sew the hem of the sleeve opening with a machine stitch or a hand stitch.

Sew a hook and eye at the top of the invisible zip (optional).

Press your new dress.
