CONSTRUCTION
POCKETS:

With RST and notches aligned, sew one set of the Side Pockets (7) to the Front (2) side seam (marked ‘A’ on the pattern). Clip at the notches and sew an understitch on the side of the pocket bag. This is pocket bag 1.

With RST and notches aligned, lay pocket bag 2 on top of pocket bag 1 and stitch the two pocket bags together. Note that the straight edge of pocket bag 2 is left free to sew to the back body side seam.

With RST sew the front side seam to the to the Back (1) side seam. Start sewing the seams together at the under arm, sew along the side seam stitching through the straight edge of the back pocket. Take care not to catch the front pocket opening as you sew. Neaten the seams with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.

LEGS:

With RST sew the front and back inleg seams together, neaten with an overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

Neaten the front and back crotch seams with an overlocker/serger and with RST sew the centre front seams together – sew from the top down to the base of the crotch and continue sewing the back crotch seams together, finishing at the top of the back. Press the seam open.

BODY

Sew the bust darts that come from the armholes. Press downwards.

Bind the armholes – with WST fold the Inside Armhole Bind (6) in half lengthways and baste stitch the two long cut edges together. From the right side sew the cut edges of the bind to the underarm using a 6mm (1/4”) seam, taking note of the binding notches on the pattern, and sew an understitch on the side of the bind. Do not top stitch the binding to the armholes at this stage as it will be top stitched down when the neck facings are sewn to the bodice.

SHOULDER STRAPS & COMPLETION:

With RST fold the Straps (5) in half and using a 6mm seam, sew along the length of the strap. Turn out to the right-side, press and sew an edge stitch along the outer edges.

Sew the ends of the straps to the top edge of the outer front and back body. Note the longer angle length of the strap is sewn to the notch closest to the neck. The straps will be sandwiched between the body and the facing.

Neaten the bottom edge of the front and back facings using an overlocker/serger.

With RST sew the Top Back Facing (3) and Top Front Facing (4) to the top edges of the front and back body, sandwiching the short ends of the shoulder straps between the facing and the body. When arriving at the armhole, keep the needle down, pivot at the corner and sew the armhole edge of the facing to the body. Note the facing will cover the top section of the armhole binding.

Turn the facing to the right side, pin the arm bind to the inside of the body, then sew a top stitch across the top of the facings and around the armholes, stitching the arm bind down as you sew. Sew a horizontal row of top stitching to the body at the base of the facing.

Neaten the hems using an overlocker/serger, turn the hem to the inside at the notch and press. Pin into place and top stitch.

Press your new jumpsuit.
