CONSTRUCTION:
With RST fold the straps in half lengthways, pin and then sew the long edge and one short end, using a 1cm (3/8”) seam for the Thin (2) and Wide (3) straps, and a 6mm (1/4”) seam for the Rouleaux (4). Trim the excess. Turn out to the right side and press. You may choose to edge stitch around the wide strap.
Neaten the four outer edges of the front Body (1) using an overlocker/serger. Repeat for the back Body.
Turn the bottom edge to the inside 1cm (3/8”), pin and topstitch. You may choose to double turn and make a narrow, rolled hem (we’ve used the rolled hem option, above). Repeat with the side edges.
Pin the raw edges of the straps to the wrong side of the front and back body, aligned with the notches. Check the position of the straps to your personal measurements before sewing. The ties will face inward; when the seam is complete, the straps will be facing outward. Sew the straps into place using a 1cm (3/8”) seam.
Turn the top edge to the inside 1cm (3/8”), pin and topstitch, encasing the straps ends. You may choose to double turn and make a narrow edge (we’ve used the narrow double turn option).
Place the front body on top of the back body with right side facing out and notches aligned, pin into place and top stitch. Check the amount of overlap to your personal measurements before sewing.
Trim any loose threads and carefully press your new top.
