CONSTRUCTION
POCKET:
With RST, pin the main Pocket (3) to its lining. Sew around all edges, leaving a gap in the bottom edge for turning out. Clip the corners, turn to the right side and press. Carefully press the seam allowance of the gap to the inside and close using a hand stitch. Sew a 1cm (3/8”) top stitch to the angled edge for the pocket openings.
Pin the pocket to the Front (1) as marked on the pattern. Top stitch the pocket into place, leaving angled openings for your hands un-sewn.
HOOD:
With RST and notches aligned, sew the Hood (6) pairs together along the curved edge in the main fabric and then the lining. Press open.
With RST, pin the main hood to the lining at the front. Sew, turn to the right side and press. Sew a topstitch around the front of the hood.
With WST, pin the main fabric to the lining around the neck opening and sew a stay stitch.
Sew the two lower edges of the centre front hood together using a small hand bar tack. This is to ensure a neat finish when sewing to the body and will be removed later.
BODY:
With RST, sew the Front to Back (2) at the shoulder seams. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
With RST and notches aligned, pin the hood to the neckline and sew. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the body. Remove the bar tack from the hood CF.
With RST and notches aligned, pin the Sleeves (4) to the armhole openings. Sew, then neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the sleeve.
With RST and underarm seams aligned, pin the front to back at the side seams and under sleeve. Starting at the hem, sew through to the end of the sleeve. Neaten with an overlocker/serger and press toward the back.
CUFF AND COMPLETION:
With RST, fold the Cuff (5) in half lengthways and sew the underseam. Press open. With WST, fold the cuff in half along the fold line, creating the cuff and pin. Baste the edges together, stretching the fabric as you go, this will make it easier to sew into the sleeve.
With RST and seams aligned, pin the cuff to the sleeve. Sew, then neaten using an overlocker/serger. Press toward the sleeve.
Neaten the body hem with an overlocker/serger. Turn the hem to the inside at the notch and topstitch. Trim any loose threads and carefully press your new Hoodie.
