I found this pattern delightful! My first attempt I sized down due to knowing my personal fit/ease preference and reviews that said it came up large. I measure between a 12/14 and I should’ve just gone with the 12 as the 10 was too small. My measurements are 41/32/42 in. for reference. Anyway, due to the nature of this design it is a quick and enjoyable sew. 2 pieces to assemble, 4 pieces to sew, invisible zipper insertion, hemming, etc. VOILA! It does have a few adjustments that I have to make (rounded shoulder adjustment for back neckline zip gaping – which I often have to do), I should probably shorten the bodice length somehow, but it’s not bothersome enough or very noticeable, so, EH? and I like a shorter dress, so I had to shorten it. The arm holes are on the small side, but that’s also an easy tweak. If you do a shorter version of this dress it can be done on 1.5m of 55-60cm width fabric or even less. My first/toile version is in a quilting cotton, and my next will be in a viscose crepe…. as it Is so easy and relaxing to make, I feel like I could crank a few of these out to give me a sense of accomplishment. 😉

Hi Korin,
Thanks for your review on the Bronte Woven Dress.
Our sizing is in AU sizing which can be a little confusing however our finished garment measurements are listed on the site if you’d like to double check the fit for your next version.
So glad you had a great experience putting this together and were able to make some personalised tweaks.
Thanks again,
Style Arc

The Brontë design seems amazing. I chose a size 12 US based on measurements and made the sleeved version in a toile. The result was a dress at least 1, if not 2 sizes, too large. I also find the sleeve restrictive. I will play around with the result by shortening the sleeve or modifying it to the cap sleeve version.

The long-sleeve version of Bronte is designed as a semi-formal dress, featuring an architectural silhouette. To achieve this sculptural shape, the fit results in a reduced range of arm movement. The shorter sleeve version will give you more arm movement as you suggested.

I love it! I normally do a FBA but I didn’t have to this time. The construction was easy and fast. I changed a couple of things like creating a front opening and French bias around the armholes and neckline. I love the shape of the skirt.

I love this design. I did the sleeved version. The sleeves seemed a little restrictive. I went down a size as well. I think that may have had an effect on the sleeve mobility. If I had gone up a size or two it would have been too big. Lovely design though.

Love the drafting, very flattering style on everyone who makes it. I made my tucks slightly shallower as I didn’t want them too fitted at the waist. Chose the V neck. I can get it on without the zipper.

I found the tutorial very helpful and am pleased with my Brontë dress though found the sizing generous even when following the finished garment measurements.. I’m generally a 10 and made the 8, but could have gotten by with the 6! The ability to adjust the pleats was a big help.

I like the pattern, however, the sizing was larger than expected. The pinched waist was rather loose and will need to size down (2 sizes smaller) to create the hourglass illusion for next attempt
