Really lovely pattern, easy to follow and made a very pretty and elegant blouse in no time (I’m not an experienced dressmaker). I made the neck frill wider as i wanted more of an emphasis, worked really well!
In fact, three strangers commented positively about it at a quilt show today!

Just finished this top. It is quite loose fitting around neckline if you follow the elastic length. I used mask elastic , and shortened it, untill I was happy. Straight size 8, no change in length as I’m 171cm
Love the style, but next time will take some width out of the back and shorten the front opening
Overall happy.

Sadly I have to say I am really disappointed with this top. Now being in my 7th decade I have found that the harshness of a round neck does me no favours. Likewise, due to having a large bust, neither does a high neck such as a roll neck, then my front closely resembles a ski jump! Also I hate, absolutely hate, shirt collar type designs. I wondered if a ruffle type neck would be softer and kinder to my mature face. I think I am going along the correct route with this train of thoughts – but – not with this Reynolds Woven Top. I made what I hoped would be a wearable toile in a fine poplin type fabric which I lengthen by 3 cms when cutting out. I am 5’7” and it was needed. When I saw the sleeve pattern pieces I was concerned and spent some time considering reducing their width. I knew I wanted to wear the neckline closer/tighter to my neck to show under round neck winter jumpers. I am used to the brief instructions although they are now better than years ago so that wasn’t a problem. The top went together well and apart from lengthening the body I stuck to the pattern as printed and its construction. I made a size 12. After fitting the elastic into the neck line and stitching the side seams I tried it on. On me the back and the sleeves are too wide. There’s just too much fabric which seemed to push forward trying to position itself in front of my arms. After some thought I can only put it down to too much of the sleeve and back width being closely gathered to form a more fitted neckline. On me the top closely resembled a drawn string bag! I will not be finishing the toile. I will though be using certain elements of the pattern to draw up my own pattern.

I made this top up in silk which was really fabulous to wear, finished but was not happy with the frill, on me, it was too wide and looked out of balance so I unpicked the neckline and left out the frill. Also instead of the facing I double rolled the split and made it look finer. Apart from that lovely fit love the sleeves

I love this top but……couldn’t get the frill at the neckline to sit properly so after asking the lovely ladies in the Facebook group I ended up altering the way I put the elastic in. A better tutorial is needed for this garment I think.

So far I’ve made two tops and really like them. However, it runs very big. If I go by the size chart, I’m between a 14 and 16. Because the photos look loose and blousy, I decided to go by the finished garment measurements, putting me into the 10 and 12 range. I’m 5’4” and also felt it too long. I shortened by 1.5”. Fabric used were both cotton with different amounts of softness. I think any type of fabric would work. Having made several Style Arc garments, I’m used to the limited instructions.
