This fabulous stylish shift dress is perfect for those summer months. The slight cocoon shape allows for easy movement and comfort. The neck and armholes are finished with narrow bias bands, so why not use a contrast colour or print to create your own personal look? The large angled pockets along with the wide hem and side spits complete this dress which will become a summer staple.
Fabric Suggestion
Linen, crepe, rayon, cotton.

Although this is a pretty easy make, and a simple shape, the dress looks very ‘designer’. I made it in a viscose linen mix and it it reminds me of OSKA. The bias neck and and armholes sit beautifully and the pockets are an interesting shape. It hangs really well. I love a pocket, like Esme on GBSB! Just need to wait for the weather to warm up now.I will certainly make this again, and like the idea of making it a layering piece for colder seasons as suggested by other feedback.

Love my Iris dress!
Good sizing and instructions.
I made it in corduroy as a nice winter dress for layering but will make another in linen. My first Style Arc pattern but I will definitely do more.

I love this pattern, the instructions were easy to follow and the dress put together well. I adapted it a little, I decided to have a straight hem without the slits and I made binding for the neck and arms. I love the pockets they are easy to fit.
I made the dress in a size 14 (I am 14/16) but next time I will try it in size 12 as I had to take in the bust and hips quite a bit.

Great basic pattern that is easy and fast to make and fits perfectly. I’ve already made this pattern twice in cotton poplin and silk, both turned out beautifully. I’ve shortened the pattern to make a tank top in linen and that out well.

Made in a heavy corduroy to wear as a pinafore dress. I am a UK 12 and made in the size 10 which fitted perfectly. I did shorten the length of the pattern as I am only 5’2. I loved the way the vents in the hem were constructed. They worked perfectly and I liked the pocket design. Will definitely make in linen for the summer. Another winner from the style arc team.

So easy to do and looks lovely on. Finished it in less than a day. Made it in a cotton /linen mix
Only thing I would do differently is the neck and armholes binding. Although easy to do , for me it looked a little untidy on the inside.
I now have a few style arc patterns and am so glad I found your company. I love your style of patterns.

Love this pattern. The dress is a very simple style but with great details such as the deep split hem and feature pockets. I made my version in a stretch denim . the dress is so versatile on colder days I have layered it with a roll neck sweater underneath or long cardigan on warmer days great on its own and a pair of sneakers.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
