I took up the offer when the free pattern was on and they are a perfect fit – especially under the bottom where I normally have excess fabric problem.
Made them in some light weight knit with minimal stretch and they are so comfortable. Will be my favourite ‘go to’ pants.
Thank you for the free trial pattern.

I made these in Ponte knit and was very happy with the results. I shortened the pattern by about an inch and they fit nicely.

These pants were so quick and easy to make – I took the waist down by 5mm as could only get 25mm elastic and I made the hem shorter as I am not tall. I am going to make another pair for summer in a stretch cotton sateen and will alter the length before I cut the trousers out. I made the pants using my overlocker and the pattern translated perfectly to this application. Love the cut and size was spot on.

I wanted to make cool, leather-look pants. Foolishly, I gauged my size based on my narrow waist and not on my wide hips. That was a mistake. The pants were like leggings and were too tight around my thighs to wear as pants. Lesson learned ! However, that was my fault and the pattern did look like the illustration, albeit too tight on me. One thing I would like is for the single size PDF patterns (and the sizes above and below that come with it) to be nested instead of on separate sheets.
In the end, everything worked out because I made a silver paillette sequin top to go over the “leggings.” More info can be found here: https://costumeclosetcouture.com/2021/05/29/sequin-mail-drafting-a-cowl-neck-chainmail-tunic/

I made these in stretch ?bengaline fabric. I was not so happy with the fit – for my shape. There was not enough fabric above the waistline at the back for a turnover waist band. With help, I was able to mark my natural waist, cut off excess at the CF leaving a seam allowance, and cut a separate waistband. Thankfully this was able to solve my problem.
    Pants now fit very comfortably

I made these in a bengaline. The fit was excellent but they are narrower in the leg than the Parker PontePant and the Barb Stretch pant. Colette patterns has a good tutorial on ‘ large calf adjustment ‘ if you have a similar fit issue, or if you forget to do it ( like I did) you can sew a triangle up the inner leg which works in a pinch.

I made these pants in the midnight bengaline and love them! I have been wearing the Barb pant, also in bengaline and wanted to try something new. The Margaret pant has elastic at the waist, so no waistband seam giving a nice smooth waist. I am 5’10” so always add 1/2” to the rise and 1” to the length. The leg width is slim without being tight. I feel the bengaline is a perfect fabric for this pattern. I will order more bengaline as soon as you reopen!

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
