This is the first time I have bought a PDF sewing pattern, so I was a bit nervous. It did take a while to put together but was easier to do than I expected. I have now cut it out in linen but haven’t finished the sewing yet. However, I don’t see there being a lot of problems.

This is a well-designed pattern, easy fitting but not at all shapeless. The sizing was good. I’ve made two in linen and will certainly make others. As others have said, the instructions for the tuck at the front look puzzling at first but once you have the dress in front of you, you can easily see how it works.

Brilliant pattern. No problem sewing it up, all the pieces came together well. I made the size 12 and it is a perfect fit, the sizing is spot on, it is very flattering on and I love the unfussy look! I shortened the sleeves and omitted the pockets but those were the only changes I made. I am already planning to make up another dress in this style. I made this one in a lovely soft cotton chambray which suited the style just fine.

My first Style Arc pattern. This came together very quickly and was easy to sew. Minimal directions, but if you’ve sewn a dress with a facing before it shouldn’t be a problem. Sizing was spot on for me.

I was disappointed in this pattern as I found it to be slightly on the small side. The sleeves were going to be so tight I actually left them off and just put bias around the arm hole. I was surprised as Style Arc are usually a generous fit.
I may try the pattern again in a stretch fabric, which would provide a better fit.
As usual, Style Arc instructions lack detail, which I find frustrating. Hence only a 3 star rating for this one….

Super easy to make. I used linen which is perfect for this style. I’ll make it again and perhaps make it a tad longer; I’m only 5’4” and for a summer style, the shorter length is great but you may wish to add a bit extra if you’re tall. I shall never bother with any patterns other than Style Arc, which are unbeatable for style, easy instructions and most importantly, they fit exactly as you’d expect.

I have been looking at Style Arc for ages and finally downloaded and made this pattern. It is awesome and fits beautifully. Already cut out another one. I did lengthen it 8cm as I’m 5′ 10″ and the diagram is accurate, so i knew it would be too short for me. I printed the PDF on my printer but have since printed the other patterns in wide format at the local Officeworks (Australia) for a very reasonable fee. Total convert, after years off sewing I’m back and designing a whole wardrobe of clothes I like, not just what is available in the shops.

I love this dress! Already I’m sorting out fabrics to make 2 more! It’s so flattering and comfortable. I found the bodice a little large, but then I’m smaller on the top anyway. And it’s such a simple pattern that adjusting it will be easy. It’s so nice to find a dress pattern with sleeves and pockets!

A beautiful and clever pattern. Easy to make and easy to wear. Flattering. I made it longer and cut the V neck a little higher, but that is just my preference. It is a loose fit, and that is part of its charm. I made it out of viscose which I’ve never used before. It drapes very well.

First time to use a Style Arc pattern. Really pleased with the ease with which it came together although the instructions are minimal.. I did downsize as I have small shoulders and didn’t have to worry about the hip size due to the gathered skirt. A very comfortable dress which I would definitely make again. I did change the inverted pleat for a gathered waist as I saw one in Pinterest which I loved the look of. The fabric was a very reasonable soft chambray which I bought at Trago Mills.

The parrtern is easy and the dress came out adorable. I used a crepe fabric that sewed easily and draped beautifully. I plan to make it again!

I really love this dress.! It was my first Style Arc make and I am so happy with how it turned out. I have already cut out another one. I did find the instructions for the tuck a little confusing, but once I sat down and thought it through it all came together well.

Fantastic pattern! It was a risky choice for me as I feel that loose fit garments don’t look flattering on me, however I feel that the bodice and the inverted pleat provide enough shaping to make this dress look good on me! I feel very comfortable in this dress. I blogged about this dress here: http://www.whileshewassleeping.com/2018/03/patricia-rose-dress.html

Love this pattern. I made two in two weeks and plan more in the near future. Style arc patterns are my ‘go to’ patterns as the fit is just right for me. Two of my friends bought this pattern after seeing my version.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
