   I purchased this pattern after reading the positive reviews. Unfortunately this has been a nightmare project.
   I printed the size 18-30 A0 copyshop file, and cut a size 18. Problems became apparent as soon as construction began; the back panel was at least 20cm wider than the yoke piece – I had to do a double pleat to make it fit. The back panel was also at least 10cm too long, meaning the vents didn’t line up. Another bodge later and I discover the facings aren’t long enough to match at the neck or at the hem.

   I’ve had similar issues with other StyleArc patterns in the larger sizes. It seems that for the larger sizes they just increase the measurements in every direction, so we end up with sleeves 3 feet long and other problems like those I’ve just described. It seems that the larger size patterns aren’t tested properly. Very disappointing (and expensive, given all the fabric and printing costs on top of buying the pattern).

   This is a great pattern. I found it went together really easily. I’ve made one in turquoise wool which is really cosy, and another in a black and white check ponte. I’ve worn them both loads already! So comfortable and easy to wear. As it’s a relaxed fit, there’s lots of room for big jumpers underneath which I need going into a Scottish winter.

   I love Stylearc patterns and have several. This coat pattern is so easy to follow and fit and I think it’s a bonus that the pattern pieces are robust paper, not tissue! I buy direct from Stylearc as a rule and never have to wait too long for my patterns to arrive.

   This is a super pattern and makes into a lovely coat and it is easy to sew. Comes out much better than the sample photos (IMHO!) I used four different patterns of greyHarris tweed. I have drafted a lining which I’ve made in a patterned silk. I will also add a couple of buttons. The UK has cold winters so unless you are using a fabric like boiled wool you need a lining. I’ll be making this again.

   Wow! I am very pleased with my coat and the pattern. Given my critical tendency to items I make for myself, this coat passes with flying colors. The pattern is very well written. I felt it necessary to read and re-read simply because I didn’t want to ruin my beautiful fabric. Well done Style-Arc. This pattern deserves more than 5 stars.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:

A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
