FRONT BODY & INSEAM POCKETS:

With right sides together, sew the side front to the front panel, neaten seam with overlocker/serger and press towards the back.

Sew the darts in the side front pieces and press towards the back.

With right sides facing sew the centre back collar seams together and press open.

Sew the darts in the front skirt and press towards the back.

With right sides facing sew one set of the pockets to the front skirt where marked on the pattern. Clip at the notches and press seam towards the pocket. From the right side sew an understitch close to the seam on the side of the pocket bearer.

Stitch the two pocket bags together around the remaining three edges, creating a pocket. Neaten the outer edges with an overlocker/serger, note that top edge of the under pocket is left free to sew to the top front.

With right sides facing sew the front bodice to the front skirt panel, starting at the front, sew through the top edge of the bodice pocket as you sew, be careful not to catch the front pocket opening, finishing at the front back seam. Neaten the seam with overlocker/serger and press down, towards the hem.

BACK BODY & VENT:

With right sides facing sew the side panel bodice and side skirt panel to the back panel matching the notches as you sew, serge/overlock the seam and press the seam towards the centre back (not pictured).

Neaten the edges of the vents with an overlocker/serger and press seam allowance towards the inside and stitch the turn back with a top stitch.

With right sides facing sew the centre back seams together, matching notches. Start sewing at the centre back neckline and continue down to the top of the vent. With the needle down, turn the corner and continue to sew across the top of the vent to the edge. Neaten the seam with overlocker/serger and press the seam towards the wearers right.

Press the top vent towards the wearers left and top stitch across the top of the vent to hold the vent in place.

With right sides together sew the front and back shoulder seams together, when arriving at the neck, clip into the corner and with the needle down turn the corner and sew the neck of the body to the neck of the collar and press towards the front.

FACING & COMPLETION:

With right sides together sew the centre back collar seam of the facing pieces together and press seams open.

With right sides together sew the front and back shoulders of the facings together. When arriving at the neck, keep the needle down and turn the corner sewing the neck of the facing to the back facing collar seam. Press the seam towards the body and sew an understitch close to the seam on the side of the facing.

With right sides together pin the front facing to the front body starting at the hemline, once in place sew up the front and around the collar finishing back at the opposite hemline.

With right sides together sew the hem of the body to the hem of the facing, clip any bulk away and turn out the right side.

Sew an understitch to the body/collar from buttonhole notch all the way around the collar, sew an understitch on the facing side from the buttonhole notch down to the hemline.

With right sides together sew the under-arm seams of the facings together and press open.

To sew the armholes seams of the body and facing together start at the underarm facing seam and from the inside with right sides together pin the two front armholes seams together, sew from the underarm up to the shoulder seam and repeat for the back armhole. This must to be sewn in two parts as it’s not possible to sew all the way around the armhole in one process.

Sew an understitch to the front and back armhole facing as far as possible. Sew a small hand stitch at the base of the armhole facing to the body to hold in place. Sew a sink stitch (stitch in the ditch) around the back neck securing the main and facing collars together.

Sew two buttonholes to the right front as marked on the pattern and sew two buttons to the left front to correspond with the buttonholes.
