Patternmaker’s fit notes
The Gilmore Tops pattern is constructed with negative ease. The finished measurements are smaller than the recommended body measurements, so the finished garments are tight fitting and stretched over the body. The negative ease is approximately – 14 cm (5.5”).
The patterns are designed to work with soft knit fabrics with multi-directional stretch, usually achieved with elastane/spandex/lycra.
The Gilmore tops are double layered to give a clean finish to the edge and have a smoothing/sculpting effect on the body. Inserting elastic into the edges will help hold the neckline shape and prevent roll out.
