I have made 2 Fenix sweatshirts both in wool mixture fabrics. I made the first one in a 16 and the 2nd one in a 18. Both have turned out well and were fairly easy to construct. I omitted the pockets on the second one and did contrast panels which made it a difference look. I will definitely make it again. It’s a pattern that is versatile and you can make it unique by mixing and matching colours.

Really enjoyed the process of making this shirt! And wearing it too! Love the pockets. Will make again (and I’ve already made two!). Made from sweatshirt fleece. Will try a different fabric next time, I think.

Really enjoyed this project. It was my first garment in a very long time, and a great starting again piece (including using a newly acquired serger/overlocker). Instructions all made sense, I liked the additional stitch detailing and of course, the pockets! I’m looking forward to more StyleArc sewing!

I love this sweater. It is so comfy to wear. I did go down a size across the bust/shoulders as I didn’t want it too big and I’m happy with the way it looks. I’ve made two…one in a Cotton Cable Jacquard Knit (like the model is wearing) and the other in a merino sweatshirt fabric. Would recommend this for a comfy outfit for lounging around.

I love the Fenix sweater, I’ll certainly be making more. I like the block panels and loose fit style. I didn’t find it to be too oversized but definitely a relaxed fit. I made an 18 in a medium French Terry including for the cuffs and bands. I did need to shorten the neckband a wee bit to make it sit flat. The inseam pockets are great, better position than at my hips!

I adore this sweatshirt. I sewed a size 12 as a sample for The Cloth Shop. I used ribbing on the neckline, cuffs, side panel & hem bands. I shortened the neckband as my ribbing was quite stretchy. The pockets do create some bulk… I would consider cutting one pair in a lightweight knit next time. My tween has ordered a Fenix for her birthday… that speak volumes!

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
