Just finished the Montana Dress in double gauze & love it. Followed the sizing guide, but rounded down to a 10. Perfect fit. I always feel a sense of achievement completing a Style Arc sew as the instructions are always “brief” at best. Although I must say there was a good tutorial for the double bodice on the website. Without that I probably would’ve been completely lost as I hadn’t done this type of garment before. I think a beginner would be totally out of their depth. Regardless I’m very happy & I’ll feel fabulous & cool this summer.

The double bodice makes a big difference to the finish of this dress. Recommend sizing down as it is a very relaxed fit.

I love this dress and made it in the correct size for my measurements (Size 12 UK). On a hot day it is so lovely and loose. I did line it as my material quite a thin embroidered cotton.

Love love love this dress but the should instructions drove me mad. I finally figured it out. I would recommend going down a size.

This is the perfect dress to wear on a warm and balmy summers day…
Im making mine in a lovely, large, French Navy seersucker which Im piping – neck and sleeves – in a liberty bias. I am also extending the sleeves a little as Im more comfortable with that length.
Im sure I’ll make it more than once!

I purchased the Montana having seen it on a youtube vlog. I have since made 4 versions of the dress and have a 5th cut out. The pattern is simple to construct and with some minor variations will provide a whole new wardrobe of easy-sew, easy-to-wear dresses for the Summer and through to the Autumn and Winter depending on fabric choices. My sister loves the design and has requested a Montana dress for her birthday in October. Next month I plan to make Denim and Needlecord versions to wear as pinafore dresses. A5-star pattern.

Really easy sew and looks elegant yet fun. I’ve hardly stopped wearing it since it was finished. I’m planning on making another – again in a soft light jersey. I’m really pleased with it. My daughter wants one too. After the jersey version, I’m going to try a woven fabric one as well. Thanks 🙂

Made this dress doing my normal back alterations and it was perfect. I love the way it hangs, without to much gathering. I don’t normally make sleeveless dresses but the cap came over my shoulders and draped down beautifully, so I was very happy. I have a second fabric to make it with, and looking forward to it.

I found the dress ran big. I measured as a size 18, but I ended up taking the dress in to be a size 16 and it still was big. The bodice hit me at my waist, instead of above it, so I had to shorten the bodice also. Because the bodice had been so large, I cut the skirt out on a Size 14 and ended up cutting it down to a size 12. The dress still looked sloppy big on me, so I added tabs on the side with D-Rings so that I could cinch it in and make it look a bit slimmer. I won’t make it again.

I made this dress in a lovely cotton & lined the bodice in a fine silk / cotton. I love it, it’s a perfect summer dress. The only alteration I made was to add 3cm to the length. I struggled a bit with the bodice but there is a terrific tutorial on this site which was really helpful. I plan to make more of these.

I love this pattern and the comfortable design. I’ve made two dresses so far. For the first one, I made it as instructed, although trying to figure out how to make the double bodice was a challenge, I managed. For the second dress, I decided to draft facings for both the neck and sleeves. I also sized down the pattern because of the amount of ease in the design. After finishing dress two I decided to alter dress one in order to have it fit better. All in all I love the pattern and my finished products. I’m a decent sewist, but I have to admit your instruction are not very intuitive. They could use a bit more detail.

This is a really useful pattern It is easy to wear and very comfortable. I made a size 22 with FBA and sway back adjustment. I omitted the side seam pockets and pattern matched patch pockets instead. I love this pattern and have since made a second one with hack of a 3-tier skirt.

I love this dress! After reading another review, I added elastic to the back, giving a little more definition. The proportions and silhouette work well for me. Very happy !

Fabulous dress. So far have made one for myself in lightweight cotton/viscose. And one for my daughter in linen mix. Cutting another now in linen mix for myself.
Great style. Easy to make and wear…AND IT HAS POCKETS! I didn’t line bodice. Made neck facings and just overlocked and narrow hemmed sleeves. Sizing true …and not too oversized.May try one in a knit…perhaps dart bodice and pull skirt narrower as stretch will allow to pull on just to changd silhouette a little. Will have fun trying. Great to sew up during my shielding self isolation. Thank you.

Beautiful design which came together so easily. I made this in a navy and cerise fine stripe cotton, horizontally across the bodice and vertically down the skirt. Delighted with it. So comfortable.

I love this dress! So easy to sew and very comfortable. I’ve made two and have had lots of compliments. For my second dress, I used checked linen and I put bias strips on the neck and armholes. I also shortened the bodice as it suited the fabric better.

I made this in a liberty rayon and it’s very comfortable. I wanted a bit more shape in the bodice so I put elastic in the back to pull it in. However if I was living in a hotter climate I’d probably make it ‘as is’ as it would be cooler.

I made this dress up in a heavy weight linen I bought from Ikea, of all places.
Easy instructions, I lined it with a matching cotton as double linen would have been too bulky.
I would call this a wear it tonight dress, super easy with no hand sewing.

On trend comfortable dress. I gave it a boat neckline & lengthened the sleeves. The lined top gives it good weight to hang beautifully.

Montana dress. I made a 16 on my bust size but could have made a 14. Have taken it in but love the shape of the extended sleeve. I put a deep hem on it to give it some weight. I made it in a light linen. I do love how the patterns always fit together so well.

This is my ‘go to’ dress pattern at the moment. I have made three to date with more in the pipeline. Each dress has been adjusted slightly, I have lengthened the sleeve, changed neckline, added another tier to the skirt, etc. There are so many possibilities.
