Shirt with two body shape options – a “relaxed shape” shirt with a back yoke and optional collars, sleeves and pockets or a “classic fit” shirt with optional front and back yokes, sleeves, collars and pockets.
This versatile sewing pattern offers two stylish fits to suit your preference. The Relaxed Fit features a slightly oversized shape with extended shoulders and a double yoke, perfect for a laid-back look. The Classic Fit is a slimmer style with an optional western shirt yoke for a more tailored finish. Customize your shirt with a variety of design options, including optional collars and neck trims, sleeve and cuff variations, multiple pocket styles, an optional necktie, and a choice of sleeve bindings or a shirt tab/placket. Whether you opt for a Classic Fit (featured in dark denim, lace, satin, and the blue floral print), or the Relaxed Fit (featured in soft blue, and white cotton/linen), this pattern allows you to create a wardrobe staple that suits your style.

Unicorn shirt!! I am plus sized and busty with big hips/tummy so a fitted shirt is usually a nightmare. My Clayton classic fit shirt is fabulous. Pattern came together easily and I even mastered the sleeve plackets which have defeated me in the past. Size 20 graded to 22 for hips. Sleeves shortenedby 5 cm. I love the concept of being able to make several garments from the same pattern. This one is a winner with two shirt styles which can be changed using the different sleeve and collar variations. So far I have made 3 different garments using the oversized relaxed fit version, one with the basic collar and sleeves to check the fit, one with the pleated elbow length sleeves and the third I lengthened the body to dress length and shortened the sleeves to make a shirtdress. All of them I have worn several times already as they are great basics in my wardrobe.
A great classic shirt pattern which can have many variations.

Made Clayton shirt in various fabrics 8 times now. It is my current “work uniform” and it is excellent, 5 versions in a crepe fabric with slight stretch, 2 in a very nice cotton sateen, and one in a scrumptious silk crepe. I made the classic fit with the standard collar in sateen x2, size 16, exact fit, no changes. The crepe versions all have the elbow length sleeves, and that sleeve is so elegant, comfortable and never needs adjustment. Really neat pleating on those sleeves fall easily just over the elbow. Oh, and I also made one relaxed fit version too – really nice, It’s oversized, just enough extra to give it that “I can wear this everywhere” factor.
Perfect instructions. Thanks Style Arc, these additions to my wardrobe are confidence builders!

This is a well drafted and fitting pattern that has a number of interesting options. I trailed the pointed collar long sleeved version and found the instructions for the exposed placket good and relatively simple to execute. I am looking forward to making some of the other options.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
