Excellent trouser pattern, and I have enough experience to not need hand-holding instructions. Fit is good for a pear shape, made size 12 for a 40” hip, winched in the waist to my 28” waist size, and it looks very good indeed. I took note of the suggestions from other reviewers and left a slot for the elastic, folded and sewed the waistband, then threaded the elastic through and adjusted to fit perfectly. Then I closed the slot as part of the topstitching to stop the elastic from twisting- no hand sewing! The legs were very long on me, standard leg length usually needed in shops; I took up 4”. The waist frill actually looks nice, but has a tendency to stick out where the front belt loops are; not a significant problem, all in all. I used a light-ish weight linen viscose mix in olive with loads of drape, worked excellently.

Great pant, clear instuctions and true to australian sizing. Really fun to sew. I took size from hip measurement and fit was perfect. The waist sits high, and perhaps not the best for my body shape, but love them none the less.

The finished product worked out quite well. The pattern went together fairly easily with a bit of fiddling attaching the pockets where the elastic goes.
Next time I will thread my elastic through the band rather than the way suggested in the pattern. The pants look nice and comfortable to wear.

As an apple shaped plus size person, I wasn’t sure whether the gathered waist would suit me, however I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised.
I made it out of a striped weighted linen so the hang of pant was excellent.
I must say that I prefer the construction diagrams, to the written instructions. I realized that I don’t really read the instructions and found the pants easy put together.
I recommend this pattern.

So far I have made a “test” pair to check for sizing and they fit amazingly well! I selected the size based on my measurements and needed two sizes up from what I normally wear In US. This was scary so I had to trust the measurements. I did find the waist a little high and plan to remove about an inch next time around. The directions are very high level with very little detail but adequate if you are experienced. Overall – adorable pants and I can’t wait to make more!

I want to preface all I say with, I am a beginner sewist. Also to say..I CLEARLY did not pay attention when it said Medium skill level.
The pattern instructions were confusing to me, particularly when it came to the waist band. There also seem to be four norches that printed out for my belt loops when the instrictions are written for three.
I did finish the pants, and absolutely love them! Would I make these again? Yes! Did the pattern stretch my skills (& almost break them)? Yes!
While in the weeds during construction; I feel this pattern has increased not only sewing skills, but my pattern reading skills as well.

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
