Absolutely my favourite paid of pants hot off the machine! Had loads of compliments already. Fit is good, style is flattering, easy to make and gave me an opportunity to topstitch, not something I have done on garments apart from my bras. I chose to topstitch both rows separately. The front pockets were a nightmare however and next time will use proper depth pockets using a lining fabric or omit them altogether and topstitch a mock pocket. The instructions weren’t really clear whether they are shallow pockets or needed to be stitched down to create mock pockets. I muddled through that.
I have given 5 star reviews in all my garments because I am so pleased with the results. However, I do struggle with some of the instructions, pockets and waistbands mostly, and have to revert to what I know from experience or find something like it on you tube.

I love these jeans! After adjusting the front rise (which I have to do on every pair of pants I make) they are a perfect fit and very comfortable. Will definitely be making more of them.

    I absolutely LOVE these jeans!
I made a straight 16 but think I could maybe size up to an 18 for the next pair.
I particularly liked the fake front pocket construction which is so much easier than another pull on jean pattern I’ve used, but it did take some thinking about as the instructions aren’t all that clear tbh at first reading.
But on the whole a really lovely shaped pair of jeans!

The fit of these pants is great although I did have to add to the back height and if I had of known that they were ankle length I would have lengthened them. I also added to the calves as I have largish calves. And i ditched the faux pockets for real pockets and ditched the funny fake front yolk thing
Sewing with stretch cord has been challenging, the first time I sat down I heard pop pop pop as the seams broke. I am still to discover where.
But overall pretty happy with my new stretch cords!

Fit of these was good, but the instructions lacking. I immediately eliminated the little seam-in the fake front pocket. The crotch seam on these was incorrectly drafted and needed to be corrected. All the pieces should come together so that they meet flat on the body. This generally means that they should all end in a right angle. The 2 back seams on these came together with a peak that had to be eliminated. I fixed this before I made the 2nd pair, but really should be corrected by the designer.

The Blakley Stretch Jean is the best trouser pattern I have used. Only did a slight alteration by adding 1cm height to the back yolk. Used a lovely Stretch cotton drill with 3% spandex. Perfect fit.

Love this pattern. I down sized for my second pair and they fit perfectly. The instructions could be improved but great fit almost make up for that.

One pattern for pants that look great when finished! I bought two pieces of cheap bengaline thinking that I’d use them as run-ups to using a more expensive stretch denim. I ended up using the more expensive fabric after the first pair turned out really well. I wouldn’t recommend this pattern for inexperienced sewists as there are a few aspects that demand an understanding of how garments are made up; especially the faux pockets, which to look good have to be placed perfectly to match the top stitching on the back yoke. I am a 52 year old, sized 14 and they fit perfectly- no hanging crotch and no gaping waist. I had to add a bit to the length- just did it at the bottom hem. Highly recommended from me!

I like these with some modifications. I made pockets and the mock fly. I found the fit to be a little different than the Arlie. I love the idea of pull on jeans. I have been plagued with holes in every T-shirt that I own from the fly front. I think I might make the band slightly narrower and extend the top next time.

I recently made these using a quality stretch denim I bought at Knitwit. The fit was perfect! I made a straight up size 12 with no adjustments. I can’t believe how well these fit! The drafting was excellent. However, the instructions are sparse to say the least. I did change one thing: topstitching the crotch seam from front to back in one go instead of two stages. To be honest I don’t care about the instructions so much, it means so much to me to have a pattern for pull on jeans that fits perfectly! So I’m giving it five stars, though I would say if you’re a beginner sewist, you might find the instructions a little hard to follow. Just take your time!

Super easy stretch pull-on jean. I made my first pair out of a camel stretch bengaline and they were perfect. I used 1 1/2 ” elastic; on my next pair I think I’ll use 2″.

I made the toile out of stretch bengeline and I made size 8 which i thought matched my measurements, however I could hardly try them because they were tight.
Back to the drawing board and will try size 10 using the benaglene, however my fashion fabric, stretch denim has a greater stretch so hopefully the final jeans will fit OK. Beware of the stretch of your fashion fabric!

Disappointed with the instructions, ambiguous, no full stops between important procedures and more diagrams required, please.

I’m sure my final product will fit just fine, like all Stylearc pants.

Although the jeans themselves do sew up well and the fabric is great to work with, the instructions are confusing and frustrating. The faux pockets and the waist band were particularly badly written.

The criteria for well written instructions includes:
    – Clear sentences that do not run on
    – Separate sentences for sequential instructions
    – Clear use of pattern piece names
    – Multiple diagrams

How Do I Know What Size I Am?

Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.

  1. When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
  2. Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
  3. When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
  4. You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth

Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.

B. Upper Arm Girth

This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.

C. Bust

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.

D. Waist

This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.

E. Hip

This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
