I love this pattern. I’d had my eye on it for awhile and was just looking for the right fabric. I chose a candy pink linen which looks great made up into the Millicent. I’m a size 10 and didn’t make any alterations except for taking about 4cm off the length (I’m 162cm). I didn’t need to use a press stud to stop the bodice gaping. I just love the lantern sleeves – overall a really flattering design. The tutorial was helpful, although a plain fabric would’ve been clearer.

This dress turned out well. I made it in a dark green linen with the short sleeves, size 10. I initially had some issues with gaping – probably due to the weave of the fabric and my smaller bust. I unpicked the front bodice waistband and pulled it down in a wedge shape starting at about 1 and 1/2 inches to nothing at the side seams which tightened this up. This adjustment also moved the bust darts into a better position for me. If making this dress, I recommend using a basting stitch for the waistband on the front bodice so you can check for fit and gaping before committing to smaller stitches – unpicking ain’t fun 😉 Overall, very happy with how this dress turned out. Got lots of compliments 🙂

This dress is lovely, in making and wearing.
I made it in plain black linen with plans on making a more formal one too – just need to find the right fabric!
I am on the curvey side, so the bodice required adjustments. This included neckline, shoulders, waist and darts.
Such a beautiful sew.

I made this dress in a size 10 Paper pattern. The pattern markings were very clear and it all fitted very well. The fabric I worked with was a stone wash sustainable linen which was good to work with and draped well. I decided to line the bodice though to give a little more body and support. This worked well using a light weight poly cotton. The only thing I had to adjust was the length as I’m 160cm and added tape ties to the sides inside and a pop stud at the front neckline. Looking forward to wearing this one in the next few months in Spring/ Summer.

I love the Millicent dress pattern. I first made a mock up for the bodice in muslin and found I did not need to make any changes to the pattern. I then made the dress in a royal blue and white seersucker for a yacht club Memorial Day party. For anomaly dinner I made the dress is a silk light weight satin and both dresses were a hit. I am 5’2 and about 170 pounds. I used a size eighteen pattern.

The finished dress fits like dream and can we talk about how cute the sleeves for short sleeve version are?! I am going to mix and match those sleeves on other patterns because that’s how adorable they are! The silhouette of the dress will flatter any body type. I made mine out of navy linen – don’t sleep on this pattern, it’s an instant classic.
