Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.

I made up the Bob pant in a bottom weight linen. I am 5’8” with a 32-33” leg length and thought they would work up as a fair pair of longer crop pants. They came out so short, so ballon-ish, and just so comically bad I will not be making them again. I am also vehemently opposed to any pattern with a really excessively deep crotch. Was it the pattern? Was it me? Was it the fabric choice? I’m going to try out Sewing Revival’s sidewinders next, assuming a stiff breeze doesn’t catch me in my flapping Bob’s and launch me into the atmosphere.

so, I made this for the first time. I am a AU 12, and 157cm. I adjusted the length in the legs and got it right. BUT, I would like a line between the crotch and the waist showing how to take length out there. When we are short, we are short everywhere not just out legs. I did take a couple of centimeters out – winged it – and it was a lot of trial and error. I have also gone back and taken more length out just under the waist band, and it seems to make the side ballon seams a bit perkier.
I had to take lots of extra material out of the back butt seam. I took about 3-4 cms of fullness out from the back.
I did the old fashioned way of threading the elastic through a casing. With the messing around needing to take more out of the back, it just seemed to hard.
I am a beginner sewer. I’ll make this again with the adjustments I made.
I made some stupid mistakes (i.e. the fabric was the same on both sides, so I accidentally completely made up one leg the same as the other. So had to unpick it all.
I’m not discouraged. Just will hopefully make it quicker and better next time.

Made these bob pants for my daughter (who is 5 weeks post giving birth and wanted casual comfy pants). These certainly hit the mark. Added 5 inches to leg length as she’s 5’11 tall.

Finally nailed this pattern. I downsized half a size and because I’m short, 5 foot 2, I took out half an inch from the seat. Looks better on me lengthened by 2 inches on the leg.
I made an 8 first which went together well, found the waistband trickier on the 6.
The team helped with a prompt reply to my query and I’ve drawn up a long version in size 7 which works for me.

I’ve already made three pairs of the Bob Woven Pant – and I plan on making at least a couple more!
The pattern is simple and easy to follow, a great fit and extremely comfortable and on trend. I prefer a wider elastic in my waistbands and that was an easy alteration. Highly recommend!

This is the BEST pant. Incredibly comfortable and stylish. The directions are not very detailed, so it helps if you have made pants before, however there are plenty of tutorials on youtube. I watched one and was able to make these pants without issue. I opted for a 1.25in elastic instead of 1.5 as many reviews said 1.5 was too big. Definitely buy this pattern! I can’t wait to make more bob pants.

I’ve made seven pair so far, so I guess you can say I love these! I did as most others have and changed the pockets. I also put the casing on the pants before inserting the elastic, as the other method was extremely fiddly for no discernible gain. @redbirdbluesky on IG.

I am so excited about this pattern after reviewing #bobpants on Instagram. There are multiple possible looks depending on whether you choose a close-fitting size or a looser fit. All kinds of fabric, too. I think this will be the perfect pattern for the bottom part of a two-piece pants + top outfit. Finally found a fresh pattern with a non-standard silhouette.

I like a Style Arc pattern. They don’t have a lot of instructions but they do have pictures – which are really pretty helpful. I have been sewing for years so this pattern was pretty easy to assemble. I had a tiny bit of stretch in my fabric which made putting together the waistband pretty simple. I plan to make these again in denim as I think a slightly heavy weight fabric will bring out the shape. I like these because they are comfortable but also because the can be dressed up with high heels and a pretty blouse. I also like the bundle that the Bob was sold with. I really like the bundle suggestions from Style Arc.

I really love this pattern. I’m sort of an advanced beginner. I didn’t use the printed instructions because I found a really good sew along for these pants on YouTube (Hungry Hippie). I don’t know if I would’ve been able to perfect the waistband without the video. I made size 12. I’m 5′ 3″, so I shortened 2″ overall (1″ in the leg and 1″ in the abdomen area). It fits me perfectly. I’ve made 2 versions already (one in lightweight linen and one in chambray) I had 2 major problems: 1) I made both with pockets (first as per the pattern, second hanging pockets from waistband as other reviews have suggested), I found in both instances, that the pockets gaped when walking and just looked bad, so I sewed them up and removed the pockets. Now the pants lay flat on the hip and look very flattering. 2) I found the waistband pattern width too small to encase 1.5″ elastic and leave enough to join to the raw edge to the pants. I added 2″ to the width of the waistband and then it was easy to join to the pants. I love, love, love this pattern and know I’ll make many more of them.

Surprised by how much I love these pants! This is a silhouette that I’m not really used to, but so far, I’m really enjoying the aesthetic, not to mention how insanely comfortable they are! Loving Bob… The only change I made was to extend the pocket bags up into the waistband so that they lay flat and didn’t bunch up along the side-seams. Worked really well and will do the same for future pairs. Made this pair in medium/heavy linen. Would like to try a lighter weight fabric, just to see…I’ll wait for next summer.

The pants for being cindy and stylish. I’ve sewn two in corduroy, one for my daughter and one for me, in less than a week. They are easy to make and the instructions are precise and clear. I’ve made a couple of pairs so far – linen and baby cord.
I’m well blessed at the rear, so I made a slight crotch adjustment, but other than that, no issues at all.
I will confess that I didn’t look at the instructions, so I can’t say if they are any good or not.

To say that I adore these pants is an understatement. I have made them in a crisp quilting cotton, and they’re delightfully poofy (one of the few patterns that lends itself well to that fabric). I’ve also made them in tencel twill, and they’re incredibly elegant, still very round but draping so well. You don’t trip over them because the ankles are rather narrow. Pay attention to the front piece’s grain, slightly off to maintain the poofiness. My only problem was with my first rev, because the waist was barely enough to go over my butt, I found it more comfortable to go up a size so that I don’t have to wiggle quite so much. Also I just extended the pocket piece up so weight would be borne by the waitsband instead of dangling like an unsupported side seam pocket. By far my favorite pattern of the year…

Easy to sew and comfy to wear. If you’re a beginner, you might struggle a bit as directions are minimal. If you’ve made pants before, no problem. I think I will eliminate the separate waistband for the next pair, though, and just add enough fabric to fold over the top. At 5’8”, I did need to lengthen the crotch by an inch.

I have been sewing for about 6 months and have made a dozen garments and a couple of quilts so I’d call myself maybe advanced beginner or intermediate. I love the style of these pants. I have just made a toile and as other reviewers have said the instructions are minimal. Unfortunately, that actually made these pants thoroughly unenjoyable to sew. I tried to follow the instructions which I usually do the first time so I can learn the design and then make adjustments. The instructions were sparse but also the techniques weren’t clever (which is why no one seems to use them). Now that I’ve read several more reviews online it seems like everyone who loves these pants doesn’t follow the directions at all. So I will use a different method for constructing the next pair, but having to figure out my own instructions makes me feel like I’m not getting good value for money. I had several other StyleArc patterns on my wishlist but I will think very hard before I buy another one, or wait a few years until garment construction is intuitive and I no longer need to follow instructions. Cool looking pants, frustrating experience.

I’m 5’3″ and carrying a bit squat so was concerned this style would not suit my figure, but they are great. I used a tencel fabric and did have to shorten them slightly, but other than that they are a great fit. I think this style suits a shorter top than I would wear with straight pants. Am now thinking about another pair in licensor that we’re coming into warmer months.

I am satisfied with the result.
I didn’t have to make changes to the chosen size. The garment has an excellent fit.

Pants are comfortable and flattering. This is my first StyleArc pattern and I am hesitant to buy any others because of the extremely scanty instructions. This is a fairly simple pattern to put together but I am also interested in the Kew Pant that looks much less simple, yet has similarly poor instructions (based upon reviews I’ve found online.)
If StyleArc spent as much time creating good instructions as the other Indie pattern companies out there do, this review would be five stars. As it is, I am giving three stars but am not sure I shouldn’t be giving two stars instead. Perhaps I’d feel more content if 2.5 stars were an option.

These are the pants I have been looking for my whole life! Perfect. I am 65” tall and the length just hit the sweet spot right above my ankle. I already have pair #2 cut out!

Great cut! Really comfy pants and I get heaps of compliments.
I’m 170cm tall and they were a little short first attempt. I added 3cm and they were perfect! The instructions aren’t comprehensive so if you are a new to sewing pants take note you might have to look a few things up.

Great pattern! Making my Bob Pants was easy with straightforward directions. I’ve already whipped up two pairs and I’m sure they’ll be plenty more before summer gets here.

Oh my. I am SO happy to find the Bob pant. This is the pant I have been searching for. It will work do well for my wardrobe. Thank you! In my next pair, I too will change the pocket to be at waistband ( slash pocket).

Very easy and quick to make. I changed the pocket shape so the top of the pocket was caught in the waistband seam. I made my pants in a medium weight linen and they are very much as the illustration on the packet. I will be cutting out some of these pants in the very near future.

Great design, very easy to adjust, and I loved the pants I ended up with. My one criticism is that the preview photos on this page don’t show the pants in their entirety. The upper half is completely hidden by the oversized shirt. It boggles me how the photographer thought these shots were okay. You can’t always trust the illustration so I had to look up other sewists’ photos of it on instagram to get a feel of what it could look like.

Good pattern for slightly balloon shaped pants, which turned out exactly as the illustration. However I was glad I had made pants before as the instructions were minimal.

This pattern is a joy as everyone has said. The pattern is easy to assemble. I liked the reminder to include the tailor tacks at the pockets because they do keep the pockets in place and prevent tearing. The pants are very quick to sew and the result is edgy and comfortable. I used the multi size pattern because I like to have the option of finishes on inside seams and some finishes need a bit more material in the seam allowance (ie French seams). I have made the pattern in two material: a midweight linen and a light linen look polyester. Both pants came out beautifully and hang well. This pattern will be another ‘go to’ when I need good looking pants in a hurry.

Super easy and quick. I thought I picked the right size based upon my measurements, but first pair turned out a little large. No worries though due to the multi size pattern! Re-measuring and starting a new pair today.

The Bob Woven Pant was my sewing project for July 4th. Been sewing for 40 years and I generally avoid making pants – sticking to tops, quilts, bags, etc. These turned out fantastic! Fortunately the pattern required no adjustments for me, which was the icing on the cake. This was easy to make up. I grabbed something from my stash to give it a try. Now I’m ready to head to the fabric store and make that 2nd pair out of a fabric I really love!
