Another make for June. A very different style and fabric for me than I usually make but I needed this and wore it to the theatre last night to the fabulous &Juliet musical.
Fabric: a light weight wool blend from @drapersfabrics in Fitzroy. I couldn’t resist this as soon as I felt it. It is very lightweight, like a voile or lawn, but super soft and warm. So happy with how the ruffle turned out and it is a delight to wear in Freezing Melbourne with my Kelly Green boiled wool coat ( rtw) Hence my divine Green earrings by @lacrozcreations
Pattern:Francesca Woven shirt by Style Arc. I read reviews especially Flabeth at pattern review and made quite a few alterations. Mainly raising the front V by 3 cm. This is perfect for me but definitely needs it. I will detail alterations in the comments.
Buttons: from @wonthaggifabrics. Where else?? Also advised to raise the front.
Labels by @kylieandthemachine 2 because 1 was not enough.
I do like it and have worn it twice but think I overdid the alterations and it is a bit big. I plan to increase the darts front and back to add more shape and might move the buttons over a bit as well. I have about 0.8m left and am trying to think of a good way to use that as well. Ideas welcome
p.s. this is the fabric I was going to make in the SA Verona top but then “lost” the pattern ( now found) but I am so glad I made the Francesca for the ruffles!!

Made in a light beige cotton poplin. I really enjoyed the make, only two issues to correct next time. One is making the neckline slightly less deep. Other is moving the elbow darts at least 10cm towards cuff.
Me and my monkey arms 😅 Blouse is gorgeous!

It is a rare thing for me to sew a pattern and have it fit without the need for alternations. After spending the week dithering and thinking about sewing, I finally cut the Francesca shirt and made a muslin in order to fit.I didn’t exactly waste my time but I am glad I did it because it has allowed me to have faith and dive right in. I’ll cut my white one tomorrow and sew it up.It’s a really fast sew! I’m looking forward to making many, knowing they will all fit well and look awesome!

How Do I Know What Size I Am?
Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
When taking your measurements ensure that you take them against your skin and not over clothing. One can wear a comfortable bra and knickers whilst measuring, as this will provide you with the most accurate measurements.
Tape measure has to sit firmly around the points you are measuring. But be careful not to pull it too tight, as this will give you the incorrect size.
When measuring circumferences (B, C, D, E) it is important to note that the tape measure must remain parallel to the floor. It is sometimes best to take the measurements in front of a mirror; this will help you see the angle of the tape measure.
You will only require the basic body measurements to determine your pattern size which is indicated on our mannequin below:
A. Shoulder Breadth
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
B. Upper Arm Girth
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
C. Bust
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
D. Waist
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
E. Hip
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.
