Choosing your pattern size is the most important step and we will help you determine this with these easy to follow steps.
Place the tape at the edge of the shoulder. Measure along the top of the shoulder blade/across the highest point of the shoulders to the other edge, following the natural slope and allow an extra finger for ease of any movement.
This point is taken as a circumference at your widest point of your upper arm.
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the fullest part of your chest.
This point is taken as a circumference and taken at the smallest part of your waist.
This point is taken as a circumference parallel to the floor at the widest part of your hips.

I am very happy with this striking top. I made it in the shorter version, and the front bottom edge sits nicely, just low enough to cover my skirt waistband. It has an unusual collar, which can be left standing, or folded down for a softer look. It is quite voluminous, especially at the back. As others have said, the instructions are not comprehensive, and I was glad I watched the Youtube tutorial before starting. With the guidance of the tutorial, my top came together perfectly with no issues.

I love this top
The pattern is great but the instructions are very vague.
I gave up reading the included instructions and worked it out for myself and it looks great. I didn’t have any issues with the collar, but the deep neck point does need special attention. If it’s not perfect it will throw the whole visual of the neckline out of wack
When I use the pattern again…. because I will definitely make another one, I will grade the width down as the finished garment is much wider than I expected. it’s a generous size, along the lines of a McCalls pattern.
The shirt I made is a medium weight printed cotton and it would also work in other fabrics like Linen, Lightweight Wool or even Dupion Silk

I love this top. I made it in a lightweight cotton and it drapes well.
I did find the instructions were too small to read so I went to Officeworks to enlarge them.
Also they were not adequate in their explanations – more diagrams would be a helpful inclusion .
Another one of my favourite pattern brands is Tessuti and they have fabulous instructions.
I hope my review is helpful for you going forward and keep those gorgeous styles coming

3 1/2 rating. I’m 71 & have been sewing since I was 6 years old; I very rarely buy any item of outer clothing off the rack. The collar on this pattern is absolutely gorgeous but also is NOT for the inexperienced or faint-of-heart seamstress!
Initially, I first graded the pattern between 20 on top & a 24 on the bottom & then redesigned the tunic bottom enough to make it dress length (I favour dresses over trousers or shorts). At first, I DID close the front seam as indicated in the directions. Once I came to the collar though, I just couldn’t get it sewn in properly due to bad arthritis in my hands, so I redesigned the front seam/facing so that now it buttons down the front & the ends of the collar tuck in very nicely with this alteration. I made it in a light weight cotton quilting material, my go-to type of material since I’m allergic to synthetic materials.
On a more positive note, so many pattern companies think that if you’re old, short & dumpy that all you should wear are tents with rounded necklines; it is SO nice to find the Style Arc site with digital patterns for download that actually fit & are stylish!!

I am pleased with my make. I used softened white linen. I did have some unpicking to do with regards to the collar, but was successful enough to wear my Blouse in public on a sunny day. I do enjoy Style Arc Pattern’s and will continue to make them.

I would not suggest this pattern for beginners just for one reason: the point of the collar in the front. Watch the youtube tutorial: in my opinion the instructions are not very good for that tricky passage. It is important also to use the right fabric, not too stiff and not too soft. I made a muslin before understanding the right consistency. The design is fantastic with a dramatic collar and loose bottom. I love it!

Hello from Aus😁 I love this pattern. I have used it twice now, one for tunic and the second time I extended the hemline to make a dress. It looks terrific, I used a lovely Thai silk and it sits beautifully, it will be lovely for evening wear if we can ever leave the house again with this pandemic! I loved that I could get the pattern immediately in PDF format, it was a bit tricky getting the print scaling right, but all good now, please persevere it will make life easier! The neck was fiddly but the utube clip helped, the second time I made it up, it was much easier. I will certainly be using your patterns again.

I thought the pattern was good, although it took me a while to work out how to fit the collar. However, when I’d finished it I thought the neck was quite close and therefore warm and the hem was quite airy. If it was warm enough to wear a top with such an airy hem I would like a less enclosed neckline, so probably won’t wear it. Nothing wrong with the pattern but not my style

Love the design of the Teddy Top! The changes I made were streamlining the hemline flare a bit (about 1/2″ on both R and L seams) to fit just a bit closer to the body. I also applied and stay-stitched the facing as directed except for the part at the point in front where the front seams, collar, and facing all come together. That part was a bit fiddly but found that doing fine stitch work by hand made it all come together much more easily.
I’m going to make this a bit longer for a comfy, loose fitting dress out of linen for next summer. I may make the back of the collar a little smaller.
Style Arc tops are the bomb! I’ve now made about 5 or 6 and they have quickly become my favorites.

Loved this pattern and have already made 6for myself and my daughter. Very flattering shape that has lent itself to lots of different embellishment opportunities. I have just embroidered the front of a pale turquoise 1 with hydrangeas and I am thrilled with it. Brilliant for many different shapes. Get it!

I love the look of the pattern, but the directions are a nightmare, which is why i gave it 3 stars. The tunic top has printed, “on the fold” but when I started sewing, it states to sew the front seam. It needs thinner fabric for the collar to work. I will make it again. But I’ll be aware of the previous errors.

I have only given 4 stars because of the contradictory instructions.
I made the short top but lengthened it by 1 inch as I wanted it to sit a little lower. This is striking style and love the dramatic collar but also the fact that it can be worn down as well.
As with all these patterns you do need to have some experience as the instructions do not cover every thing. However the instructions for putting the facing on and sewing up the centre seam were totally contradictory to the line drawings and I would advise you to watch the video to know what order you need to do things. Plus on my pattern the hem facing pieces say cut out in main fabric, no mention of fuse yet the list of pattern pieces on page 2 says cut out in both main and fuse?
I did fuse the hem facings but then redid them without as the top did not hang well, it is much better without. I used a soft light weight batik fabric.
I will make this again and have some soft cotton lawn earmarked for it.

I gave 4 stars because I luv the top and had been looking forward to making it. I have loved all patterns I have purchased from u. This one I found impossible to get the collar to fit between notches properly. I made out of heavyweight linen or should I say tried–unfortunately it’s now in the bin and I am very unhappy.

I will defiantly be making more of these tops with this wonderfully dramatic collar.

I made the teddy top and the teddy tunic! The collar is just fab and adds drama to this top. There is a video tutorial on sewing the collar and how to get the front just right. I made one out of seersucker. That was too stiff. I made one top and one tunic using lighter weight viscose fabric. Success. For the tunic I used the fusible interfacing in the collar and only part of the back hem. On the top I used the interfacing everywhere the pattern calls for the interfacing. You get a different look with more or less interfacing in the hem bands. I have fabric picked out for at least one more teddy tunic. I definitely like this pattern too!
